Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk and alternative rock. But, they have influences from hip hop music, jazz and punk. A feminist icon widely recognized as Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the pioneers to establish her own record label in 1990. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a previous student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each other while they were both attending. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was born in Montreal. The song by Ani, 32 Flavors, was composed by her and is performed by Ani. This song appeared on her 5th studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. It was also featured on the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999.
